Ferrari’s First EV Might Have Synthetic Gears

Ferrari’s First EV Might Have Synthetic Gears

Robb Report

Ferrari‘s first EV is coming this fall, likely in October, and, being an EV, won’t have any use for a manual transmission, though that isn’t stopping the automaker from possibly giving it gear-shifting abilities anyway.

The AGMA Fall Technical Meeting Process

Gear Technology

AGMA’s Fall Technical Meeting (FTM) is the best place in the U.S. to share gear manufacturing research. If you want to write a paper and present, here is how it works. AGMA uses an online portal to streamline the process. Because we have less than a year for the entire cycle—from abstract submission to publishing the paper—we must have firm deadlines.

Antikythera Mechanism's Intricate Gears

Phys.org

A pair of physicists at Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata, in Argentina, have created a computer simulation of the famed Antikythera Mechanism and in so doing have found that manufacturing inaccuracies may have caused the device to jam so often it would have been very nearly unusable—if it was in the condition it is now. Esteban Szigety and Gustavo Arenas have posted a paper on the arXiv preprint server describing the factors that went into their simulation and what it showed.

Multi-Objective Optimization of Design Parameters for Tractor Hydro-Mechanical Continuously Variable Transmissions

Scientific Reports

The design parameters of the transmission directly affect the vehicle’s dynamics and fuel economy, due to the complexity of the tractor’s working conditions and operating modes, the optimization of the transmission design parameters is more difficult. In this paper, an independently designed hydro-mechanical CVT transmission is taken as the research object, and the transmission design parameters are optimized based on the tractor’s whole life-cycle speed usage rate, and the Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm(MOGA) is used for optimization and solution.
